Police probe alleged Thai links to Islamic State websites

Fifty websites linked to the Islamic State (IS) militant group have alleged connections to Thailand’s three southern border provinces and the Royal Thai Police’s Special Branch Division and other would investigate them further, deputy national police chief Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said on Tuesday.

 

Srivara, in his capacity as a national police deputy in charge of national security, presided over the Bangkok Regional Cooperation Team (BRCT) meeting on Tuesday at the Royal Thai Police head office in Bangkok along with Australian Federal Police (AFP) commander for Asia Glen McEwen, and other senior officials.

 

Following the meeting, which lasted almost two hours, Srivara told reporters that they had discussed transnational terrorism.

 

He said the Australian authorities had reported that the number of IS-linked websites worldwide had increased from 100,000 sites last years to be 200,000 sites this year

 Fifty of those sites reportedly contained information related to the deep South, so the Thai authorities would investigate them, Srivara added.

Only a matter of time before there is some large Islamic State attack in Thailand. A Saturday night in walking street would be my guess

200k sites. Wow. 6 degrees of separation came to mind. If followed right "stream" probably could connect Vatican to ISIS. Thai police will investigate those links, once someone figures out how to investigate.
