Police chief extends condolences to families of bus accident victims

BANGKOK, 23 March 2018 (NNT) - The Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda, has extended condolences to families of those killed and injured in a bus accident in Nakhon Ratchasima province. 

A double-decker bus crashed in Wang Nam Khiao district, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Wednesday night (March 21st), killing 18 people and injuring 32 others. 

The Royal Thai Police Spokesman, Pol. Col. Krissana Pattanacharoen, said the national police chief has instructed law enforcement officials in all areas to beef up safety measures on public transport, as the Songkran festival is approaching. 

He also stressed on the importance of providing first aid for people injured by road accidents and the transfer of patients in a timely manner, as they are essential in saving people's lives.

The Thai equivalent of the American "Thoughts and Prayers" to shooting victims. Lots of words, but no enforceable laws to help prevent these crashes from occurring.

After the bus driver handed himself in to the police a urine test showed traces of amphetamines. A quick reading of this bus driver's history revealed he had been arrested for possession of amphetamines 5 times since 2002!

Why was he allowed to drive any vehicle, never mind a public bus?

No one cares in this crazy country, the carnage on the roads will continue!!

the dead and injured are all victims of the do nothing Thai police and Thai government.

Again a lot of stupid talk, to hell with talk time for action.

Random drink/drug testing for every public service vehicle driver is needed Now.

The carnage on the roads needs stopped NOW.

not really, he probably went on to say that all victims should go to the Richy Richy  5 star Hospital, where there are special discounts for multiple intakes and special BOGOF offers and monthly promotions !

The laws are on the books.  It's the enforcement that's lacking.  And tragedies like this are a direct result.

 

This guy should be begging for forgiveness while he's extending his condolences.

Agree, why hasn't this RTP national police chief (and other before him) started up serious and totally new methods with modern hi-tech resources and systems, etc:

 

- To on-the-spot, in every location in Thailand monitor speeding, through satellite imagery which sounds warnings which go instantly to cops who are always deliberately spread across the whole country as they go about all sorts of duties in their daily routines, to very quickly follow and stop the speeding vehicle within a few minutes, and more? 

 

Why haven't the RTP pushed for much harsher penalties for errant bus drivers, etc etc etc. 

 

Roll on total police reform...

Col my man Saying that be like  telling Thais to pick up there rubbish they throw on the ground. No chance they will do that.  I see the big sad face on this guy but what he needs to do is kick some arse to the men below him. No i did not mean they should sit on there arse more because they do that pretty well. Have to admire the Thais though when they have an good accident they do it in style and kill many people

Further, the RTP falls further and further behind in terms of global benchmark policing policies and resources.

 

Why:

 

- Well they have substantial budgets.

 

- The main reason is because the clever, creative, sincere ethical guys (and they do exist) who could be taking all of this forward, don't get to the top, they don't get promoted because of one just factor

they refuse to get tangled in 'payment for promotion'. 

 

Which means that the RTP and more is staffed at the top by incapable insincere and unethical people.

 

Until this stops Thailand will just sink further and further behind.

 

And it's not only the police agency, pretty much all Thai ministries and agencies are the same. 

 

Sad...

ok  i say my  piece   he was allowed to drive the bus because the RTP and operators dont give a dam about the laws in this country
