The military junta is considering legal action against pro-election activists after they held a protest rally in front of the Army Headquarters strongly criticising the government and the military junta on Saturday (March 24).

Spokesman of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Maj-Gen Piyapong Klinphan, also commander of the 11th Army Circle, said on Monday that the pro-election group led by political activist Rangsiman Rome and Sirawith Serithiwat, of the Democracy Restoration Group, didn’t keep to the promise they made when they sought permission to hold activities at Thammasat University and then marched to the Army Headquarters on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road.

Maj-Gen Piyapong said the group told authorities before the rally that they would visit the Army Headquarters only to submit their demands to the army representatives, but instead they set up a mobile stage and used loudspeakers to criticise the government and the NCPO.

Not long ago Kn Prayuth talked about the lack of critical thinking skils in Thailand. If critical thinking skils are to be developed here then one has to accept criticism. Either that or just come out and say that we are aiming to develop a nation of brain dead sheep who swallow any old <deleted> that we spout.

Reconciliation comes with accepting points of view, no matter how different they are to your own. Why not invite the demo leaders in for some cha nom and a chat. (without the "adjustment") At least that would gain some respect.

The protest was peaceful and only want an election that the junta promised. Excessive overreach to take legal action.

They are running scared........cowards

They (the army) are supposed to defend the country.....

They couldn't even defend their own Headquarters against a handful of peaceful demonstrators...:whistling:

"Only those who move feel their shackles." At least some start moving

I wish the military would drop the "legal" nomenclature - trying to appear as if it's some kind of law abiding authority. Just say, "The military junta is considering action."

With its absolute power that Prayut shakes like a cheerleader's pompom, everything the military does is by definition "legal." No need to rub it in.

Surprise! You can have a little democratic dream but don't push too hard. We can always silence you one way or another.

They have never known true democracy and in all likelihood never will.

It's a bu_ger when promises are broken ... isn't it? Especially when it gets to be a habit.
