Authorities are trying to determine whether a planned gathering of politicians from the Pheu Thai Party at a golf course in Nakhon Pathom constitutes a violation of the junta ban on political activities, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday.

According to media reports, a group of key Pheu Thai figures plan to have lunch and play golf with politicians from the Sasomsap family, which owns the golf course.

Prayut, who also heads the ruling junta – the National Council for Peace and Order – said he did not know whether such a meeting constituted a violation of the NCPO order prohibiting political activities.

“The authorities involved are looking into the matter,” he said.

The PM added that authorities were also looking into cases in which politicians visited local residents in different areas.

“We will see if the order was violated. The order states clearly what can be done and what cannot. Be careful. Don’t violate the law,” he said.

Four brothers from the Sasomsap family are well-known, influential politicians in Nakhon Pathom.

Two of them became Cabinet members in previous administrations and lead a faction within the Pheu Thai Party.

Prayut and certain other figures from the ruling junta were photographed with the Sasomsap brothers after playing a round at the golf course last year.

Double standards.....?

Hypocrisy is clearly part of Thainess.....:whistling:

They really are scared of the reds. Can they ban them without leaving them with enough time to create yet another entity before the election?

Pathetic, Prayut getting a bit insecure?... somebody had better check all the caddies for hidden microphones...

What a relief, that your old partner in crime. the Honorable Prawit is in charge of national security....

Personally I think, that this round of golf, is part of a much bigger conspiracy......

Better check if the Russian sex-trainer is involved......and if the lady with grenades in her bag was indeed headed for the golf course....

If they can "raid" Bridge Clubs and Darts comps...anythings possible here nowadays....

"Don’t violate the law"... because only me, Dumbo and our families allowed to do that.

Maybe they could convey their proposed political agendas to each other by means of scrabble parties ?

"Do as I say and not as I do".

Whats the problem, get your new appointees the KunCray brothers to have a quiet word with them.

Ban all golf!  obviously they are plotting to take part in an ELECTION!  hurting more Thai hearts!

BTW I also saw more than 5 people in a 7/11 the other day!  shut them ALL they are plotting, obviously!

How absolutely astonishing!

How  do  they manage to colour co-ordinate his shirt and that Byzantine Halo which inevitably surrounds his head?

Very good point about the halo around his head in that photo: I had not noticed that.

Talk about subliminal conditioning of the viewer! Except that fortunately, most of us on Thaivisa are utterly immune to such brainwashing!

Do as I say and not as I do.

I recall this meeting, Prayut brushed it off as a social visit.....

And no end to the influence of political families. Not taking Thailand forward...

Prayut ... said he did not know whether such a meeting constituted a violation of the NCPO order prohibiting political activities.

“We will see if the order was violated. The order states clearly what can be done and what cannot. Be careful. Don’t violate the law,” he said.

If the order clearly states what can [ = may] be done (and what cannot [ = may not]) ... it is strange that General Prayut doesn't  know if such a meeting constitutes a violation of the order (or not) ?

I can see the charges now:

1) Playing golf with political intent.

2) One politician deliberately breathing in the same air space as another politician.

See, I can make these charges up along with the best of them. Thainess - I reckon I've got it sussed at last.

Exactly. All the same old influential families jockeying for position and deciding which offer benefits them the most to align to.

Junta or Shins.

Nothing changed. Still reminiscent of the medieval barons and their powerful families that dominated Europe right up to WW1.

Don’t despair, Thailand not the only country in the world that has powerful political families. They however stand above the crowd by changing nothing and still relay on medieval methods like coup in order for a small group of powerful families to dominate.

Still defending "powerful" families who enrich themselves, put themselves above the law and take nepotism and dynastic privilege to new heights then Eric?

Still, as a Singaporean you probably have a unique interpretation of democracy and the role of those powerful families within their interpretation of it.

Medieval methods, like trying to rule through puppets, and silencing opposition by making them disappear, or oppressing them and refusing to accept any vote that doesn't go your way. Yeah, that's right Eric, one family wants to be like the Borgias or the Medici but the real backers don't want them.

Or perhaps you can share the meaningful reforms your heroes achieved in three regimes this century?
