The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has ordered banks to tighten up checks of identity cards of customers following the leakage of ID cards of over 10,000 people from TrueMove H’s cloud storage.

The move aims to prevent criminals using fake or stolen ID cards of other people to conduct financial activities.

TrueMove H admitted of the leakage but said it was the personal information of customers of its subsidiary iTrueMart only.

Exactly how are they going to "tighten up"? Stare at the card 2secs longer?

Unless the banks get a list of the leaked IDs and use that information (just about as likely as the moon splitting in half), do they mean their current checks are not tightened up?

No no, bank clerk now has to dip the card in water to see if the ink runs...
