Adoption of Relative

Has anyone been through the process of private adoption in Thailand in particular Udon Thani.

If so could you recommend a good English speaking Lawyer.

Or even share experiences so we have an idea what to expect.

You don't need to waste money on a lawyer just go to the local government office and they'll steer you in the right direction. If its a relation you and your wife are adopting its easier still especially if your just going for a Thai adoption and not an international.

Thanks for reply, went to Nong Khai amphur but guy there did not understand that we just want an adoption in Thailand & was insisting I get all reports from Uk & go to Bangkok to sort. Seems left arm don't know what right arm doing.

So that's why want lawyer to confirm the Law is that A resident Farang can adopt locally.

I should add we allready have guardianship but want to formally adopt .

As we married if push came to shove wife will do herself because little one then have same name as me anyway.

Thats exactly what we wanted to do got a lawyer paid him a fortune and when he took us there they said we can't said something that my has a western surname and why don't we just go for the international they were sorry for us that we'd hired a lawyer and wasted our money.
