Trial of 30-million baht lottery scam case begins

The court proceeding of Thailand’s most-publicized lottery scam has finally begun. The Kanchanaburi Provincial Court held the first hearing of the long-delayed 30-million baht lottery scam on Monday morning.

The trial today saw Preecha Kraikruan, a teacher at a state-run secondary school in Kanchanaburi and the plaintiff in the case file charges against a retired police officer, Pol Lt Charoon Wimol, for allegedly misappropriating and receiving the stolen five first-prize winning lottery tickets whose prize money amounted to 30 million baht.

Preecha arrived at the court this morning with his lawyer along with a number of his witnesses to give testimonies to the court.
