The government is urging auto-makers to take advantage of  the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) facilities  to set up production bases in its effort to make  Thailand  the regional hub for automobile production.

The call  for automobile investors to invest in EEC  was made by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak  at the ceremony held by Mitsubishi Motors to celebrate the production of  its 5millionth unit in Thailand

Somkid stated that the EEC project was launched  for this very purpose and is an important stepping stone to direct the country towards the government’s Thailand 4.0 Masterplan.

Bangkok is already the hub of cars, without proper infrastructure to support their movement.

Mr Somkid is becoming desperate now. This is the same punch line for the last 30 years.

The hubcap hub.

Has a ring to it

Hubba, hubba, doo.

Not really keeping up with the times. When the factories have been built will there be a demand for their product? Or is thailand headed to be the car park of unsold cars hub?

Arguably Thailand is already the regional hub of car manufacturing as it is by far the largest producer of cars in Southeast Asia.

When Thailand can't find 30,000 Thai skilled workers to serve the present development plans, what's the point in another scheme - without allowing more foreign workers into Thailand to fill the employment gaps?

Meanwhile domestic investors are looking outward to the other ASEAN nations for investment opportunities.

Why not make it the hub of everything...you have already declared Thailand as the hub of most other things!!

Why not the center (hub) of the universe !

Nothing will work here without educated workforce.  The Japanese have been warning Thailand.  The majority of new factories will be robotic anyway.  You can’t have an ignorant population, and a high technology
