Former Pheu Thai list MP Arisman Pongruangrong was among five defendants indicted at the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions by the public prosecutor on Tuesday for involvement in alleged corruption in the Ban Uah Arthorn housing project of the National Housing Authority.

The four other defendants in the case are Ms Supavida Kongsuk, an authorized director of Thai Chen Yu International Construction Development Company, Pasthiya Thai Company, Namfatt Construction (Thailand) Limited and Prinziptech Thai Limited.

However, only Ms Supavida and a representative of Prinziptech Company were present at the court. They were later released on a three-million baht bail with a condition that they must not leave the country without prior permission from the court.

Understanding the number of influential people involved in corruption on all sides of the platform in Thailand, I'm surprised this rat is not already in the can but a welcome piece of news.

Yes.....years of appeals yet to come forth!

Indeed an other corrupt politician bites the dust.

Then they should look better and catch them all.

Perhaps you mean “prosecutors” because there is no suggestion of persecution in this case!!

Not yet, but what convenient timing.

Timing.. not so sure about that you know how long Thai court cases take. This one won't be done (appeals and all) before the election. Unless Prayut goes on with his delaying of the election for years  more.

The timing was because it is now news (again) at the same time that the EC are trying to nail Thaksin and the PTP. Also at the same time that the group of 3 are going around poaching (or trying to) PTP MPs.

The timing result of his case doesn't matter. It is what they are doing NOW that does.

More diversions to take everybodys eyes off the ball of delaying elections again.

Ah ok, i thought you meant it was about getting them to be not available for the elections. Your explanation sounds ok too, though I doubt anyone is fooled. The delay of the election again is just crazy horrible whatever. I posted it before I get bored of all those delays.

Exactly. I guess it's an efficient carrot and stick method as the ones they recruted recently have the reputation to be corrupt. Get more money or be indicted, how can they reasonably  refuse this opportunity? ?

And the lesson is - don't lose power; I guess the current crop are taking note.

But will they learn from it and believe that they have an amnesty for ever?

Meanwhile, Prawit and Prayuth's family are untouchable.

Something up in Dodge City.

Of course they are, until the PTP and the FFP win enough seats to form a coalition government and then run the country.

IF they do, and I sincerely hope that they will they have said that the current constitution wil be torn up and a new one made. The current government say they cannot do this but the current government did exactly that 4 years ago.

If that happens, and I truly hope that it will, what will happen to the generals amnesty?

Will there be another coup and if there is what countries will "accept" it next time around?

Would be interesting to know the sources of the considerable wealth of the present, unelected / self appointed powers that be.

How can they tear up the new constitution as they need the approval of 20% of MPs of EACH opposition party? Practically it means that they cannot change the current constitution unless Suthep agrees to it.

Unfortunately there is no peaceful solution to the current deadlock.

I do hope that you are wrong.

Suthep is a bad yesterdays man but he is old and hopefully...
