Popular Post Expatthailover
Weird isnt it? Year on year pattaya and phuket tourist numbers go up. More expats are moving here. There is clearly a massive silent majority that love thailand as a holiday and residential destination. I read on here everywhere in thailand is dangerous, corrupt and police will intimidate you until you give them money. Oh and dont stay in hogh rises as locals will conspire to throw you off and make it look like a suicide The list goes on ..just look through the various forums. So who is right I wonder 3

All other, who have removed their rose-tinted glasses and actually have seen that thailand is not perfect, (no country is) are wrong.
Old Croc
We Phuket locals are not in the least surprised that the Island is one of the most visited places on the planet. Living here you can't help but notice! Because of this status, it often invokes a wry laugh when people in sparsely populated and visited northern provinces try to compare their lifestyle, crime or traffic accident statistics to Phuket. There is no comparison outside Pattaya or CM. It's no secret that the huge visitor numbers are massively inflated by the after midnight hordes of charter flights from all parts of China disgorging more and more of the relatively unsophisticated Chinese tourist groups. It is interesting to see that they spend around $239 on leisure per visitor per day. Not quite zero baht tourists, but they don't contribute greatly to the local economy.

Visitors from hundreds of other countries around the world, in numbers more suited for the local infrastructure. Probably the same result as with any other popular destination if their main visitor numbers were to be removed. No lack of clarity of thought with you Leonidas. So if visitor numbers were reduced so it was no longer in the top 10 destinations it would no longer be in the top ten destinations! Outstanding conclusion!
