I'm looking for a doctor that has experience doing Botox injections in the back and butt for pain management of sciatica/nerve issues. in and around Chiang Mai

Been looking around and not finding anything that I seem to think would be a professional to try this.. Been a long road of pain and want to find some ways to loosen my muscles up..

Thanks

quit being a prick and don't comment if you don't have any input... lots of great people on this forum but idiots like you are the reason it sours

He has "previous" on many topics!  Unfortunately the rest of us have to suffer them!

I am sorry to say I have no knowledge of the subject/problem you are suffering so can give no advice.

texxan1, I assume you're not a doctor, so it's not really appropriate that you've already diagnosed your problem and the treatment you need.  It's like someone having shortness of breath and chest pains and deciding they need to have heart bypass surgery without first seeing a doctor and having the appropriate tests, medical work-up, professional diagnosis and recommendation of treatment options from a trained specialist.

In reading about the use of botox for lower back pain and sciatica, I see where it's just one of many treatment options and a study at Walter Reed showed that it's not more effective than corticosteroid injections or acupuncture.  I have an interest in this problem, having problems myself from time-to-time.  Personally, I find that I should return to what I was taught by Dr. Perry, the chiropractor who comes to Rajavej Hospital from time-to-time to relieve the pain.  Some daily yoga exercises and 30 minutes on a recumbent bicycle when the pain returns.  If I keep up this routine, I can keep the pain at bay.  I realize my case is mild and others are more severely affected, but I sought professional help, rather than decided what treatment option was best first.

Nancy, good advice but it's not at all clear that the OP is doing self diagnosis for his problem - it may be that he (or she) has had professional advice, tried other approaches in the past and found this to be effective.

In general though, your point is absolutely right and specialist professional advice should always be the first thing on the agenda.

You're absolutely right.  In fact, I have botox injections, just under the skin of my armpits to stop sweating.  But, this was after I consulted a doctor about options to try to reduce sweating and, more importantly odor that resulted despite showering two or three times daily and using high-powered antiperspirants/deodorants.  All that those did was to give me horrendous rashes.  A U.S. doctor recommended botox, but it was frightfully expensive and not covered by my U.S. insurance.  It's very reasonable at a "cosmetic clinic" in Chiang Mai.  Plus, it works.

Given that the relevance of any response I can make is constrained by my not knowing your medical history with, and current state of, the sciatica ...

I can share with you that during an episode of acute sciatica I went through in my early 40's, what literally saved me from the operating table was ice-pack treatment. And, I realized, later, that the strategies I had been using ... hot baths, hot packs, massage, acupuncture ... probably made the condition worse.

Within 3 days of total rest and ice-packs, I had great relief.  I noticed that after divorcing my wife, the condition never occurred again ?

cheers, ~o:37;

No self diagnosis here.. Ive been going to doctors in the UK and the states for over 6 years now... It appears to be a muscular problem from the last two specialsts I went to..   All they said they could do is help me by prescribing multiple drugs etc etc  had 15 MRIs, nothing, nothing wrong.... So the biggest issue I have is I can stretch the muscles and get a little relief.. But they just tighten back up, so ive been consulting a doctor via skype in the US (pain mgmt.) and he recommended trying to find a doctor that can do botox injections that knows what he is doing.. This gives the muscle a chance to relax and stay relaxed... This doc thinks that basically my muscles are in a cycle and I need to break that cycle.

So that's why I'm looking for recommendations
