BANGKOK, 27 July 2018 (NNT) - Singapore-based ride-sharing and delivery company Grab has launched new parcel delivery services, which could benefit e-commerce in the country.

Country Head of Grab Thailand, Tarin Thaniyavarn, said that Thailand is a high-potential market for smartphone-driven purchases. To meet demand for one-day express delivery, the company has launched a new parcel delivery service called 'GrabExpress' that includes delivery via motorcycle, car and pick-up truck.

The service will be available 24 hours a day, and users can select up to 10 delivery destinations simultaneously. The app also features real-time tracking via its mobile app and desktop website, as well as loss protection up to 10,000 baht.

The service is now operational in 16 provinces, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and other major cities such as Chiang Mai and Pattaya.

Tarin also announced GrabMart, a service where users can can select nearby convenience stores and purchase up to 500 baht in goods, which will launch next month. Grab is also collaborating with online grocer HappyFresh to launch GrabFresh by the end of this year for users to purchase groceries from supermarkets.

As for future plans, Grab is working with the Bank of Thailand for permission to expand on its GrabPay service, providing an e-wallet platform for seamless financial transactions.
