GinBoy2 Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 I know Europe is ablaze right now, record temps everywhere, so this might be interesting little tidbit. As many know California is experiences terrible wildfires, but the effect spreads waaaay beyond. Yesterday me and Mrs G were returning home from Chicago, and as usual the pilot as we on approach gives the usual, "Ladies and Gentlemen, weather condition in Rapid City are blah blah blah, temp blah blah, and reduced visibility due to smoke" I had no idea what he was talking about since there aren't any wildfires around us. Then when I got home I saw this. Halfway across the continent it has an effect!
ELVIS123456 Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 And that is why we left Chiang Mai a while ago - the smoke from all the burning in the Region, as well as anything blown in from Laos and China, and up from Isaan when the winds came from that way, made the place unbearable for months on end. Smoke travels a long way when the winds are 'right'.
