Guys,

I currently have a company that is applying for BOI status. We will be given A1 status.

Currently I have myself and my partner on conventional work permits. This meaning we went out got a Non-B, applied for a WP3, and got out work permit at the ministry of labour which is valid for a year. There is still 7 months remaining on both.

Now, the company we are using have told me that for us to move our current work permits over to the new BOI company, we need to cancel our current work permits and apply for 2 new work permits for 40K baht per work permit.

Her reason is that work permits for conventional Thai companies and BOI companies are different and it is not the same work permit. (The only thing I can find different is the length of the Work Permit)

I find this very strange! Would it not just mean that we could move our work permit from the existing company to the BOI company once it gets set up and just pay governmental fees?

Thank you for any suggestions!
