webfact
Demolition of disputed Bangkok hotel and condo out for tender again Picture: Daily News Years after a court ruling that determined a 24 story hotel and 18 story condominium violated building laws the case is still unresolved. The Aetas Bangkok Hotel and Aestas Condominium are still standing in Soi Ruam Rudee in Pathumwan district. It was decided back in 2014 that they were too tall for the narrow soi. A court order was made for their demolition. Two private companies proposed to knock down the hotel for 66,640,000 baht and the condo for 70,810,000 baht. The plan was for the Pathumwan district authority to bill the company that built them later. Now it has been decided that there is a problem with the paperwork. The tender for demolition is being put out again, said Daily News. A sign from the Pathumwan authority forbids use of the building. But Thaivisa notes that online sites are still offering rooms for around 2,500 baht up for the Aetas hotel. George Bowman
I passed by there a week or so and nothing has changed. Actually, the place looked fairly busy. Plus, a new building is going in right across the street.
