Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday sentenced two Russian men to six years jail each for using drugs and stealing money from an ABA Bank ATM in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district last year.

Presiding Judge Khy Chhay identified the two as Alexandar Zametnaya, 31, and Ivan Telenkov, 30, who were convicted of drug use and theft with aggravating circumstances. “The court decided to sentence them to six years in jail each,” the judge said. “The court also ordered that they be expelled from Cambodia after they serve their sentences.”

Judge Chhay said that the two were arrested at about 8pm on December 2 at the bank’s ATM in the district’s Srah Chak commune. He said that police seized $1,000 in stolen money, several cloned ATM cards and other items.
