Australia to miss opening of assembly due to ‘flawed’ poll

Featured Replies

As Australia became the latest Western embassy to announce it would not be sending a representative to Wednesday’s opening of parliament, Council of Ministers spokesman Phay Siphan dismissed the US and EU Ambassadors being “unable to attend” as no loss because “they give no value to Cambodia”.

Rebecca Chirichiello, a spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, told The Post on Tuesday that Australia would not be represented at the inauguration of the National Assembly.

“Given Australia’s views on the flawed election process, Australia will not be represented at the inauguration of Cambodia’s National Assembly on [Wednesday],” Chirichiello said.

Nah,  the aussies are afraid that the Chinese will try to buy them again.

There's little left for Chinese to buy... They've already bought just about everything with AUS Gov't blessing!!

Perhaps Australia is also registering a protest over the recent conviction in Cambodia of James Ricketson for espionage.

As he said, who am I spying for? Perhaps a better question would be what is there to spy on.

My info suggests, UK, US, Netherlands, NZ, China , in that order ....... doesn't matter which countries, point is, foreign investors are able to buy land property with AUS Gov't approval!!! Stupidity !!! ..

The price increases of recent yrs, mainly due to "foreign buyers effect" that precluded some Aussie families from owning a home, or if do, at very high borrowings!!   Few other countries allow foreigners to buy land properties, some don't allow own residents to do so!   NOTE: Just announced two more major banks increasing borrowing rates; just the beginning of tough times for borrowers......
