BANGKOK, 10th September 2018 (NNT) – Ittiporn Boonprakong, Chairman of the Election Commission of Thailand (EC), has reiterated that the forthcoming election will be staged on February 24th at the earliest.

Ittiporn says his team is ready and equipped to organize elections even though they assumed office only last month while offering thanks to former commissioners and electoral officers who had done an exceptional job in preparing and transitioning election-related work to his team.

The Organic Members of Parliament Act and the Organic Members of the Senate Act will come into force on September 13th, he said, adding that a general election must be held within a 150-day time-frame after the enforcement.

He noted the earliest election date is February 24th, 2019 and the latest would be in May 2019, which is in line with the nation’s roadmap.

The selection and election of Senators must be concluded 15 days prior to the election of MPs, said the EC chairman.

He then reiterated that Election Commissioners and officers nationwide are fully equipped to organize elections and that he doesn’t see the much-anticipated election being further delayed.

Which is way past 150 days, so his definition of "must" is very different to mine. ?

This is because they always have at least one more game to play in the endless roadmap. Didnt they set a 90 day period after Royal confirmation before the laws are enforced, effectively adding another 3 months to the roadmap?
