Grab has announced a partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to promote travel under the campaign Grab Xi, designed to offer Grab’s users an authentic travel experience in 25 community attractions in five cities.

Travellers can use promo codes to receive special discounts up to Bt150-250 on unlimited rides.

The campaign runs until September 30, covering community attractions in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui.

Tarin Thaniyavarn, head of Grab Thailand, said: “We are proud to announce this partnership to help promote domestic travel, especially within communities from the five provinces.

"While these destinations are already welcoming a large number of tourists every year, the Grab Xi campaign will not only open doors to even more opportunities for communities with their unique charms but will also distribute income to the people."

Travellers can participate by selecting their destination at TAT x Grab and add the promo code. For attractions in Bangkok and Pattaya, use the promo code “amazing” to get a maximum of Bt150 discount per ride.

For Phuket, Krabi and Samui, use the promo code “Thaitay” to get a Bt250-maximum discount per ride. The codes can be used for unlimited rides until September 30.

This article seems very misleading.. i seriously doubt they just give you 150 to pay for one ride. More than likely it is 5 or 10% of the fare. I can. not clarify this but it seems logical... Being that in Pattaya the Grab rate now includes higher costs.. The company is making this discount, which will probably be used rarely if at all, knowing full well they will not lose anything.. Another big hype is all.

Discount for tourists? Did anyone call up the local cabbies yet to keep their weapons ready?
