Popular Post webfact
Unassuming Chonburi police captain saves a life and helps a troubled teen video screenshot Thai Rath shared a moving video with a Chonburi police captain who told the media what he had done to help a troubled teen who was threatening to jump to her death from a bridge. The media have called him a "hero" but most who have seen the video will appreciate an unassuming Thai policeman keen to do the right thing and help others in distress through love and understanding. The cop is Pol Captain Natthawut Na Chiang Mai attached to the Chonburi force. He is clearly not an attention seeker. He was called by 191 to go to a pedestrian overpass where a 14 year old girl in in the second year of secondary school was threatening to kill herself. Captain Natthawaut first acted practically. He closed off the bridge and asked if he could sit down next to the teen and discuss things. She was crying at first and refusing to explain to him why she was so depressed and upset. But soon the captain's gentle approach encouraged her to open up to him. She explained that other students in her class were picking on her - she always seemed to get the blame for everything. One of the teachers didn't understand the situation after things went missing and everything was getting worse and worse. It was just one thing after another. At home her parents were arguing - when she sided with her mum her dad got furious. She just wanted to jump and end it all. Natthawut explained there is always some good to be had in life. He coaxed the troubled teen into explaining the good things there were in her life. Yes, she admitted, I do have close friends who care for me. Yes, she added, there is a great teacher at school who I love and respect. Natthawut managed to persuade the teen to get up and go with him back to school. He contacted the teacher, who teaches IT, and when they went into the school she ran up to the teacher and there were hugs. The teacher continued with some much needed counselling. Nutthawut also contacted social services so that they could provide additional help. The police captain said that all parents would recognize the sentiments of the teen, it was nothing out of the ordinary. But he urged parents and teachers everywhere to treat children with love and kindness, nurture them and help them when they are down and depressed. Listen to them and help them work out their problems through love and understanding, he said. The seven minute interview was widely shared and commented upon in Thai social media. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-09-21 4

Popular Post Just1Voice
A good man, apparently from a good, and influential (Na Chiang Mai) family. Thailand could use a lot more like him.

Not the role normally of the RTP to help people only themselves. In this instance he most certainly should be praised and given some recognition for helping a person in distress, but as I said ,doubt it will happen. But never mind ,hopefully his good deed, will be returned to him one day in some form or the other.

I agree, any admiration I may have had for this policeman is completely annulled by the fact he accepted someone filming the whole personal event and then unbelievably it has wound up on social media. This is about the most irresponsible thing you can do in this circumstance and I hope there is a disciplinary review at the very least.
mikebell
A Pattaya policeman worthy of respect! He's young and not been taught the ropes yet.
