Teachers want police to investigate OTEP for possible fraud

BANGKOK, 27th September 2018 (NNT)-A group of 100 teachers has urged the Crime Suppression Division to investigate the Office of the Welfare Promotion Commission for Teachers and Educational Personnel (OTEP) for possible fraud.

Somkiat Pongpaiboon and 99 other teachers, who claimed to be representatives of all teachers across the country, submitted a letter to the Crime Suppression Division urging the agency to press charges against the OTEP and two other organizations namely the Government Savings Bank and Dhipaya Insurance Public Company Limited.

Somkiat believes that out of seven teachers’ debt relieving programs operated by these organizations; up to 40 billion baht was found embezzled in three of them from 2009 – 2011. He claimed many teachers had been tricked into paying a loan insurance fee in a form of a life insurance 9 years in advance as part of loan application requirements under the debt relieving program.

Somkiat added that none of them had received insurance documents after having their insurance fees deducted from their bank accounts. He explained that without such documents as proof of the teachers’ insurance payments, it would mean that the money had been deducted from their bank accounts illegally.

Somkiat further stated that the programs also offered large loan amounts to lure teachers into believing they could use it to pay off their debts while not realizing the loan insurance fee also increased. The group will also urge the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Department of Special Investigation, the Ministry of Education and the Anti-Money Laundering Office to investigate their claims.

so, option to  buy off someone

With so many organisations being investigated by the police, I don't know how they have time to block roads and demand money - n Pattaya it's usually near the end of the month: right now outside Suk Makro heading towards Sattahip.

Surely not !!!!!

But then again
