Advice & ideas needed about my pond.

When I had my house built my wife had two garden ponds built. I voiced my doubts to the Thai guy that was building the ponds about the way he was going about it, but as usual I was outnumbered in opinion. Anyway, after six months or so I had one pond filled in and concentrated on the other. I put in a filter as recommended by a local dealer and tried to aerate the water. I have had to clean the pond completely every other month and replaced the cheap pumps every few months.

Anyway, I am now sick of messing around with this pond and am contemplating having it filled in as it is just too much trouble. However I would prefer to keep it if possible, but it will require a make over. I don’t know where to go for help in Thailand and so I thought I would try the TV members (as I do for most things). I only have a dozen giant Gouramis and a dozen catfish type things, but I have had them for over two years and would like to keep them.

I think the best option would be to remove the light blue tiles and go for a more natural looking pond i.e. not clear water. It seems impossible to keep the water clear.

Any ideas will be considered.

I have attached a couple of pictures.
