With this little programme, etherchange, you can make your PC look like any MAC address yuo want.

Do you know your old MAC address??

Checks like this make sense on secure networks, not on public ones........... :o

That looks more like a secret code from a Swiss Bank Account. Have you powered off and on the router?

Yeah I have tried everything. ######ing True don't allow it to connect. :o I want to call True but I don't have their number. And even if I get it I probably will get the normal answer as from all thais withch is "huh?" "can not can not" or some other made up reason.

Let me know.

I am using the same model router with True and the answer to your question is No. They do not need the MAC address. However you need to check the other settings

ADSL Settings

Multiplexing Method LLC_Based

VPI 0

VCI 100

Encapsulation PPPoE (PPP over ethernet)

You need to provide your login info mine is of the form username@truehisp so just insert your user name including the @truehisp

followed by password you use to access true. Remember it is the router that logs into True not your computer.

IP address and DNS select dynamicically or automatically

These are the settings on my Netgear router and I am connected to True as I write this message.

Once you have connected successfully dont forget to chnage the management password for your router and at the very least select WEP security.

Please come back if you still cannot connect and want to check any further settings.

Hi glad it worked for you. In answer to your other question there is no need for any payment. I have in the past received some excellent advice on this forum when I needed it and I am only to happy to help others when I can.

Each ISP has a certain protocol and VCI/VPI for their ADSL system. You usually only need to know these values. Thing is, if you use your own equipment, you'll not receive the necessary information from the ISP unless you ask. However, if you ask here, there will be people who know the values.

Registering the MAC address was used for some ADSL subscriptions... usually it's for bridged connections. Pretty much all normal ADSL connections in Thailand aren't bridged, they're PPPoA or PPPoE.

Also, if you have any problems with the connection not working for certain things (but not actually losing the DSL sync or disconnecting) then your MTU/MRU might need to be changed (usually lowered).
