Over one million visitors at Water Festival

Featured Replies

More than one million people visited the Water Festival on the two days. The festival will end today (Nov.23). According to the National Committee for Organising National and International Festivals, 600,000 people visited the festival in Phnom Penh on the first day and about 1 million on the second.

As yet eight boats sank while racing on Tonlé Sap River.  None of the oarsmen were injured.

The security measures taken to maintain public order were fruitful as no major problems arose. King Norodom Sihamoni along with Prime Minister Hun Sen and other dignitaries will attend the last day of Water Festival.  They will and watch the boat races from a stage erected on the riverbank in front of the Royal Palace.

Don't worry, the three day drunken karaoke will return for new years when the worst singers in Thailand will be back on the loud speaker again for your listening pleasure.

This is spectacular and I have personally witnessed the Water Festival.
