The Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok gave a warm welcome to the new Ambassador H.E. Ms. Kjersti Rødsmoen, who formally took up her duties as the Ambassador of Norway to Thailand on 5 December 2018.

“I will spare no effort in my work to further strengthen the friendly relations between our two countries and promote broader cooperation in the fields of politics, culture, the environment and trade,” the new Ambassador writes in her greeting on the Embassy’s website.

Kjersti Rødsmoen started her career in the Norwegian Foreign Service in 1988 with her most recent position being head of the Latin America Section at the Ministry in Oslo.

If she is anything like the British Ambassador, she can enjoy a nice long holiday.

Was she required to prove her 20,000 baht at the airport upon arrival? I hope she reported her address within 24 hours of entering.

Career in diplomatic corps has spots like BKK where you get to relax. A nice trophy spot if you've been somewhere nasty before, say , like Somalia. Not exactly the launchpads to the upper echelons though.

Diplomats are usually exempt from immigration law requirements. Special agreements with governments. There are perks, but it depends on how big a dog you are. Ambassadors are top of the food chain.

Two different countries. Two different people. No relationship that I am aware of.

I have yet to work for the Norwegian Government or their diplomatic corps. I reserve my comments to those professions I have worked in or for. Otherwise, my words are of questionable merit.
