webfact
PM hands down budget policies to ministries BANGKOK, 18 December 2018 (NNT) – Thailand's Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha wants ministerial policies to be in line with the 20-year national strategic plan. Addressing officials from various ministries, Gen Prayut said budget plans must be in accordance with the country’s development strategies and the 12th national economic and social development plan which upholds transparency, fairness and the nation’s best interest. He also asked them to apply the royal teachings to the mobilization of development programs as Thailand is trying to establish itself as a developed nation. As for a budget plan, Gen Prayut said it must offer a mechanism for assessment and evaluation and that the information about how a ministry spends money should always be made available to the public. To ensure the continuity of development programs, each ministry must have a 3-year spending plan. Gen Prayut added the distribution of state funds must support economic and infrastructural development undertakings, such as road and transportation connectivity, rail development, digital development, community and SME development, agricultural promotion, the creation of added-value to Thai products, public health and, most importantly, the eradication of social inequality. -- nnt 2018-12-18
