webfact Posted January 3, 2019 Share Posted January 3, 2019 Nakhon Si Thammarat starts mass evacuation of people in six coastal districts Mass evacuation has been ordered for people living in six coastal districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat where powerful tropical storm Pa Buk was predicted to make landfall tomorrow night. Governor Chamroen Thippayapongthada said the evacuation must be completed tonight as 190 temporary shelters have been hurriedly set up with a combined capacity to accommodate more than 86,000 people. Four deputy governors have been dispatched to the coastal districts to oversee the evacuation and to coordinate with officials from various agencies to ensure smooth preparations to cope with the intense tropical storm. webfact Posted January 4, 2019 Author Share Posted January 4, 2019 Weather bureau confirms Pa Buk to hit Nakhon Si Thammarat tonight The Meteorological Department issued an announcement this morning confirming that tropical storm Pa Buk packed with 75 kph wind at its centre would make landfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat province tonight. The department director-general Phuwiang Prakhammin said that the major tropical storm was located at about 200 kms to the southwest of Nakhon Si Thammarat at about 4 am today and is moving westward slightly to the north at a speed of 25 kph. The storm is expected to make a landfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat tonight and this will cause widespread heavy up to very heavy rain which may result in flash flood, he said but did not give the specific location that the storm will land.
