A retired traffic policeman jumped from a pedestrian bridge to his death in Nonthaburi's Muang district early on Thursday.

Police said Pol Sub-Lt Paithoon Luang-aram, 66, a retired traffic policeman of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau, jumped from the pedestrian bridge in front of a restaurant on Ratchapruek Road in Tambon Bang Rak Noi.

Paithoon died at the scene from head injuries.

Witnesses told police that Paithoon was drinking at a restaurant with a girlfriend and the two left separately. Paithoon was seen calling several taxis but he did not get in. He eventually walked up the bridge and jumped over.

I hope he hasn't started a trend, when being denied a taxi.

As long as it’s police, I’m OK with the trend.

I would imagine a lot of "ex" and present traffic cops end up mentally sick and unable to cope, stood out in the heat listening to ridiculously noisy vehicles all day, breathing in the pollution would do anybodies head in :shock1:

Yet they are the ones who have the "power" to stop all the "noise & pollution" they can be are incredibly stupid! ????

Then not being able to get a taxi who will use his meter would be the icing on the cake ????

RIP to this man and condolences to his family.

Sadly this poor soul has made a wrong decision, obviously in the time of need.

Even more sad is the above TVP's that have no compassion, nor respect for this mans family.

I know this is a forum, but hey, a man is dead. Have some respect!

Well said sir! To the armchair critics, you do not know anything about this man, his history, his works, his family I say shut the F up and get a life.

Why does somebody dieing bring out the sickos on here?

Please have a little bit of decency and keep those horrible comments to yourselves.

The poor man was clearly troubled by something for him to have jumped, so in future members when a person dies show a little respect/ compassion.

Guilt/conscience finally got to him.
