Thai man arrested for possessing digital child porn

Police on Monday arrested a man for having child porn in his possession.

 

Pol Lt-General Surachate Hakpak, commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, said Jakkrit Uttarapong, 23, had been arrested after police found porno clips and digital photos of child pornography on both his computer and mobile phone.

 

The arrest was made after the Royal Thai Police’s Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children Centre (TICAC) conducted an investigation following tip-offs from a non-governmental children’s protection centre.

 

Police obtained a warrant for Jakkrit’s arrest after the TICAC found that the Internet Protocol address used by the suspect had downloaded child porn.

I really will never understand what is the connection between common crime enforcement and immigration law enforcement ? ... It seems it's always the Hon. Mr Big Joke behind every crime bust in Thailand even if it has nothing to do with immigration ? ? ?.... or am I missing something here?

In a previous story about the Indian marriage scam it stated that "Pol Lt-General Surachate Hakpal, immigration bureau chief and deputy head of the technology crime suppression centre". So I guess this is covered by his technology crime suppression remit - Seemingly a busy guy.

I doubt it. He'll get a good hiding quite often and the only change it will make to his behaviour is he will resolve to be more careful when he gets out.
