moonseeker
I am looking for the following info: 1) What immunizations should a TH teen ! 15) have had during school? 2) What immunization boosters - not knowing the previous immunization history - should a 35 yr. old adult TH get? 3) Where in Pattaya can these be had reliably w/o an exorbitant price attached? Thank you all very much. MS> PS: Sorry, not interested in immunization-opponents opinions and conspiracy theories. Know them all and know better ???? THX. Sheryl
The Thai immunization schedule is as follows: BCG at birth. Hepatitis B vaccine at birth Combined DPT (diptheria, pertussis and tetanus) and Hep B vaccine at ages 2, 4 snd 6 months followed by DPTonly at 1.5 and 4 years then Td (tetanus and dipthrria) at age 12 Hepatitis A is not currently part of the national immunuzation program but is advisable. In the past most people acquired immunity naturally but with improved sanitation this is less common, making people susceptible. Japanese B encephalitis at ages 1 and 2.5 years Oral polio vaccine at ages 2,4 and 6 months, 1.5 years and 4 years The new HPV vaccine is being introduced nationwide in a phased manner. Given in grade 5. For an adult, suggest Td plus blood test for Hep B antigen and antibodies and Hep A antigen. If negative for HepB antigen and antibodies (or antibody positive but below protective level) then immunize for Hep B. If Hep A antibody negative vaccinate for Hep A as well, there is a combined HepA/B vaccine. I would also suggest the JE vaccine if aged over 30 or if did not live in Thailand as a young child (it was added to the national immunization program here. Least expensive source of vaccine will be a govt hospital or health center but can't guarantee they'll give what you want. Otherwise among private hospitals the least expensive is probably Pattaya Memorial. Note that all Thai nationals are eligible for free health care but has to be at the hospital or hralth center that corresponds to where they are lusted in a "tabian baan". If you are caring for Thais who come from upcountry they will be listed in a tabian ban in their home province. Assuming the arrangement now is long term, it is worth the effort to get them listed in a tabian ban in Pattaya.
