Man arrested for allegedly organising road racing on Facebook

By The Nation

A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly using his Facebook page to organise road racing in Bangkok.

Traffic Police Division commander Pol Maj Gen Nithithorn Jintakanon said Thirapol Suanphanaprai, 28, was arrested under a court warrant for allegedly using his Nano White page to organise racing on roads in the jurisdiction area of Metropolitan Police Division 4.

The page has 30,000 followers and each organised race drew more than 100 motorcyclists. The races were also broadcast on Facebook Live and the clips were also widely shared, Nithithorn said.

Nithithorn said Thirapol was arrested under the 94th arrest warrant issued against Facebook administrators who organised road racing and his page was the 110th one closed for the crime.
