February 28, 200719 yr Author Is a onward ticket needed to enter penang or will a one way be ok? No. Incidentally, what is your question? For what purpose do you inquire whether on onward ticket to enter Penang is needed? -- Maestro I want to travel to penang to obtain a tourist visa. I want to travel one way(from BKK) to penang and possibly take the train back or bus. Can I enter penang with a one way with no return ticket back to BKK? Do I need train tickets or bus tickets as proof of leaving or will they just let me through?
February 28, 200719 yr i have been in and out of penang maybe half a dozen times over the past few years for visa runs from thailand. i have never been asked to see an onward or return ticket. i have a western passport, don't know if that makes a difference. i would assume there is a similar law, like thailand's, that requires non-visa holders to have a return/onward ticket that they can invoke if they suspect someone is coming to stay and work in malaysia illegally.
February 28, 200719 yr For what I know, travelling by land they not ask something at all when entering Thailand without a visa. And you will allready have your new touristvisa in your passport,so I do not see any problem. They will ask you only(if they ask) when you fly back to Thailand without a visa !Even this possibility no problem, cause you have a visa....By the way,why not fly return with Airasia? Will cost you very few money, and not more expensive then going by train or whatsoever?????
