Hospital Recommendations In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Ok, pretty simple. I want to put some good doctors to work on my body, in particular some manner of foot doctor, and things would be most favorable for me were this to happen in Chiang Mai rather than Bangkok. (traveling around, in Vietnam at the moment)

My first priority in a hospital is waiting time. "Can I get a same-day appointment?" is the primordial question in this case. A close second priority is the English abilities of the doctors, though I've found in my travels that most communication upon scant analysis is completely miraculous no matter what language it's in, and that everything truly important gets resolved even if none of the participating parties have any idea what any of the others are talking about. For this reason English abilities are second to waiting time. (though both are important)

If I'm lucky there's only one worthwhile hospital for farangs in Chiang Mai, which would simplify my decision. Perhaps there's ten, but I don't know, I've never been to the city.

Anyway, much gratitude and tribute to any who is able to purvey useful information.

Ram Hospital is the most popular among Falang, although Lanna runs a close second.

I have only used Ram and they have clinics in every department so no apointment is necessary on most days.

I have never waited more than 20 minutes for a no apointment visit, foreigners are given preference, in my opinion, as they are usually paying cash.

Their pharmacy is outrageous in their charges so have any presecription filled outside the hospital if possible.

Ram is right.

Great super great again.

And why complain about spending what would cost ten times as much back home.

Shame on the earlier poster for saying such things.

People think because they come here and spend 10baht on noodles that everything is going to cost the same. Makes me mad.

a punter.

Don't mean to go off topic here but I just can't let this one go.

Are you for real????? :o

2500 baht for medicine that would cost 500 baht if you walked about 200 metres down the road. Ram is a BUSINESS!

Granted there are some cheap bastards here, but what gets my goat about some foreigners is that they come here and are willing to pay much more than something is worth in this economy and make life more troublesome and expensive for those of us whose incomes come from this country and are trying to raise families in this country and save money for our futures in this country.

I agree with Pro. Pay their medical fees but don't get any prescription filled there unless you've got insurance paying for it.

You could probably get same-day consultation at Maharaj (Sripat special clinic, 13th floor) for 350 baht, and if they prescribe special medication, their pharmacy on the first floor does not charge an arm and a leg. You can also go straight down Suthep road toward the mountain range to the university pharmacy and get fresh medicine, cheap price, expert advice.

I am afraid I cannot recommend CM Ram based on personal experiences there.

PB's recommendation is better, the place might not look as clean and professional as CMR..but thats not the important issue..the quaility of your healthcare is
