Getting Another Immigrant B Visa Before Expiry

Featured Replies

I'm Malaysian with a valid Immigrant B Visa. Posted here before in regards to extending the visa and was told I would need a work permit. As the work I am doing would only be fore another 2-3 months my company is asking me to just get another Immigrant B Visa.

As my visa expires on the 15th of April 2019 during the Songkran holidays, anyone here tried applying for a new visa before the current one expires? I am looking to do it in Penang as that is my home state and I'll be back there before the 15th of April 2019.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Your visa expired when you used it to enter Thailand , what you think is a visa is a permission to stay.

It will end when you leave the country, you're free to obtain a new visa in Penang.

Be aware of consulate opening times during Songran

Sorry about that, forgot to mention I have a multi entry non immigrant B. In regards to opening hours during Songkran, thanks. Just checked, they are only closed on the 15th.

Check this, but I believe if you leave the country and return before the end date of you Non B multi you will get another 90 days.

Will that be long enough to fulfill your business requirements?

Thanks. Another 90 days would be more than enough (I hope), didn't know it works that way. Cause currently I do leave the country by flight once every few weeks and the expiry date on the stamp each time is always 15th of April 2019, but then I did state that I would be leaving the country again in 2 weeks.

So I'm a tad confused.

If you have a multiple entry non-b visa issued by a embassy or consulate you will get a new 90 day entry if you enter the country on or before the date it expires.

But if you are saying your permit to stay is always April 15th it seems you may have an extension of stay issued by immigration and a multiple re-entry permit to keep it valid.

Ok, cool. Thanks.

Ubon Joe, what are these extensions of stay you speak of and how do they relate to a Non B?

Can you guide me to more information on this, please.

The extension of stay based upon working would be to extend the 90 day entry from a non-b visa.

To apply for the extension you would need to be working for a Thai company and have a work permit. There is a long list of required documents the company has to supply.

General requirement are here. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_1

thanks, I had never head of that before. It may be useful in future.
