Border run requirements

Featured Replies

I'm planning to do a visa run to Malaysia and was wondering what the requirements are, besides my passport. Do I really need 10.000baht in cash as a German citizen or is that only for other nationalities (visa on arrival)? I'm leaving in 14 days and actually only need a new visa to avoid a short overstay.

This is also my first time in Thailand and so far I only have the 60 day tourist visa and a 30 day extension in my passport. So there shouldn't be any problems, since I have a return flight and do this the first time, right?

I'm in Ao Nang right now and was planning to book with an agency (heard it was only 750) but they all charge 1500. So I was planning to do it myself and get a bus from Krabi bus terminal to Hat Yai and a bus from there to either Padang besar or Sadao. Heard Sadao is the better option if you run into problems bc you find accommodation there and more busses. Has anyone experience with this route and maybe can give me some advise? Or does anyone know where I can buy the 750baht ticket from an agency?

Thanks.

You can be asked to show the 10k baht when entering visa exempt. Sadao is know to ask to see it

They also often tell people they have stay in Malaysia for one night before returning.
