An Indian tourist has suffered serious injuries after falling at a hotel in Pattaya early on Friday, 4 September. Police are examining CCTV footage after finding no immediate evidence of an assault, while rescuers believe alcohol may have contributed to the fall. The 42-year-old man, identified as Mr Abhishek, was found in pain in the parking area of a seven-storey hotel on Soi Buakhao 15. He had fractures to both wrists and severe back injuries, according to rescue workers. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation received the report of a person falling from height at 6.50am. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station also attended the scene. Rescuers gave Mr Abhishek first aid before taking him by ambulance to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment. He was conscious and able to speak, but complained of severe back pain and repeatedly asked to be taken to hospital quickly. Police check which room he fell from Hotel staff said Mr Abhishek had arrived late the previous night with an Indian tour group and checked in to room 312 on the third floor. However, staff told investigators that tour-group members sometimes exchange rooms without telling the hotel. Police are therefore still trying to establish which room he was occupying and the floor from which he fell. Officers inspected the rooms, are trying to trace the tourist's movements and review the hotel's CCTV footage in detail. They will also contact and question the tour leader and Mr Abhishek's relatives. Police who inspected the area said there were no immediate indications of foul play or evidence that another person had attacked him. Their initial assessment is that he may have fallen after drinking. Insurance arrangements under way Rescue workers said the tourist smelled of alcohol, although he remained conscious at the scene. The exact circumstances of the fall remain under investigation. The hotel said Mr Abhishek has travel insurance providing cover of about 500,000 baht. Officials have coordinated the insurance details to support his medical care. Picture courtesy of ฉลาม นิวส์ Join the discussion? 5 September 2026
