Nice lake, my wife and I have created something similar but are having issues with too much rain! We are getting a lot of erosion on the banks of our ponds. Any suggestions on plants to grow on the banks to slow or stop erosion? We have put down rice and lemongrass but we need something with deeper roots

"Ya Fek" or King's Grass is a vetiver grass with 2m-3m roots. Very good for erosion control and holding slopes. Thread about it here about 10yrs. ago.

Thank you very much for that link, I’m going to check it out.

Excellent thank you, looking forward to more photos, your information on cost is appreciated, and will be interested in how you cover the frame and ventilate - if appropriate

This is why me boss said FORK rice. It does take work but more profitable. A lot of her product is now heading to a major supermarket with the backing of the DOA.

Brilliant, what a catch as a customer. Your missus is doing everything right. Congratulate her for me. Now the real work will start, keeping up with supply to match demand. Got my fingers crossed!

Good luck tomorrow, the setup looks great.

You know there are enough farangs here now to set something up like a CSA community for us as a barter system.

Imagine that! Not an ATM card in sight.

Me boss  returned last night about 9 pm. Cold pizza for me.:tonguewink: She was out the door about 6 this morn and back up to TOPs. She told me they went in the store to check then they went outside. Over 200 people were there including the Surin Gov. She says the inside was a madhouse and they stayed outside. She has just had a phone cal from TOPS and was told EVERYTHING that was putout was sold. That photo above that shows 6 Butternut Squash..she actually had about 50 more that are not shown. TOPs wants all she can grow and are screaming for another load from The Together Farm. She is jumping up and down:D She did get a polo shirt.:D:D:D

Zee boss took me for a look see at a Farmers Market in Tops Surin this afternoon. I was goob smack by what I saw. I counted over 20 display stalls and a very large fresh cooked food both with local talent. The market area is just inside and takes up at least 75% of the produce area. All produce and fruit are advertised as chemical free and by what I saw majority of it comes from Surin. I only saw two other farangs in the store but about 50 Thais most about the FM side. To me it looks like Tops have hit a grand slam.

Everything is right about this scheme. Collectively the volume needed can be satisfied by a group of small farms. Better quality, more variety and fresher produce on offer and the logistics is local.

Since it appears to be direct from farm to store, the prices should benefit both farmer and consumer. Tops will obviously do well, else they wouldn't do it.

I hope it succeeds and the concept spreads.
