Permit me to use the forum to announce a very successful motorcycle charity ride around the island yesterday on behalf of the Baan Haad Nam school in Laem Din. A superbly organised event realised a sum of 105,000 baht for the school.

With the approval of Samui's Mayor; a police escort was provided by both the Local Police and the Tourist Police to escort the 50 motorcycles completing the tour around the ring road, culminating in an evening party in the school grounds.

Much appreciation to Khun Ohm of Ohm motorcycles for organising the ride. In a matter of merely 2 weeks he'd perceived the idea, produced the commemorative T-shirts, organised the Police escort and arranged for strategic stops where further donors and refreshments were available.

Buddy Beer bar in Lamai provided free drinks and snacks as well as a generous donation, the Coffee Shop in Nathon being equally as generous and upon arrival at the school grounds we were greeted with a superb array of various foods and drinks provided by the islands hotels. The look on the childrens faces when all the big bikes roared into their playground was, well... ............emotional!

Bangkok Airways donated two beautifully engraved glass plinths which were auctioned for outlandish sums to enable the subsequent fundraising target to be realised.

All in all a great day, a great ride and a great achievement: all made possible by the co-operation of the above people.

From me a big thanks to you all - I felt very humble, proud and honoured to be part of such an event.

That is very good indeed. May be a bit advance notice and more PR ( I did not know about this) and surely you will attract a much larger crowd. Time to get the old Harley oiled I guess.....

Thanks for your kind comments.

Possible next ride to raise funds for Samui Hospital in NaThon - and most certainly early notice will be given along with maximum publicity.

Oil ya Harley's and Yamaha's and watch this space.
