Junior politician’ Prayut taught lesson by Mingkwan

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has been taught a lesson by the parliamentary opposition.

While Prayut was delivering the government’s policy statement on Thursday, New Economics Party leader Mingkwan Saegnsuwan waited until the prime minister had finished reading the 35-page statement before he rose to embarrass Prayut by telling him that he omitted the most important part - the first paragraph.

Mingkwan noted that Prayut must first inform the parliament that he has been appointed by His Majesty the King before he could deliver the policy statement in the chamber.

“The prime minster skipped the first paragraph, which is important. He must first inform the parliament that he has been appointed the prime minister by a royal command and that his Cabinet members have also been appointed by a royal command. The prime minister did not state this,” Mingkwan argued.

“So, I would like to ask the prime minister whether he wants the policy debate completed in accordance with the constitution or not. We don’t know in what capacity he was speaking. He must declare the status of the prime minister and cabinet before he can talk about the policies.”

Prayut rose to reply saying: “Actually, I am an inexperienced politician - an inexperienced one whom you noted didn’t read that part. I thought it’s in the document that you have read. I don’t understand this procedure. I regard it as an honour for me to be reminded. Thank you for your advice. I am the most junior politician among you in term of experience.”

Prayut then started reading the first paragraph that informed the Parliament that he was appointed by the King on June 9 and that his cabinet was appointed the next day before he ended his reading of the policy statement.

That response should haunt every word he ever speaks from here on.

So if you expect members to give you some slack because you are inexperienced as a politician then I'm sure we can expect you to give some slack to other inexperienced politicians including Khun Thanathorn.

Thanathorn hasn’t been PM for the last five years.

He should try the Boris approach and just wing it and say any old crap but wait he's done that for five long ones already????

I have a problem with the substance of the issue. With no disrespect meant toward His Majesty, a duly elected (cough, cough) official in a democratic election (cough, cough), in a democratic state (I have a really bad cough), needs to be appointed by a royal command? Endorsed with royal approval would be more palatable maybe.

with the chamber ringing with cruel laughter biggest loss of face I've seen in a long time. Won't be long before Prayuth is replaced or we have another coup.

Give credit where credit is due, we had rain today and we all know who that is down to don't we! Actually we had buckets loads, I know this for a fact because one them fell on my head, there was a message on it and it said ( not the bucket you understand-the message) " With love from the Government and especially me, the Special One."

Geez, the poop hitting the fan much earlier than I had predicted.  No honeymoon period for the military father of the country...????

No. You are completely wrong.

This is exactly as it appears. An Army guy that has had the luxury of zero opposition for the last 5 years who is now being thrown into the bear pit without restraints anymore.

He is completely clueless, is in way over his head, has no idea what he has let himself in for and is about to get ripped apart by Thai politicians.

To be fair he may of known it was coming but his ego wouldn’t accept it....now he will

learn the hard way.

At this rate the next coup will not be far off.

That's right. One hazing coming up.

Prayut rose to reply saying: “Actually, I am an inexperienced politician - an inexperienced one whom you noted didn’t read that part. I thought it’s in the document that you have read.    I've seen that live on TV and it was a very nice embarrassment for Prayuth. They treated him like a little boy which he certainly is.

One minister even had to tell him that they're in the Parliament not in the army when all others started laughing their ars_s off.

"Most junior politician" after five years of misusing a paragraph to make with people what they want?

Now it's time for payback, Mr. Prayuth. They don't like you. All of them.

Not even 500 incense sticks will help him now. Gotta love that.
