Exchange Baht For Dollars In Jfk (new York City)

Featured Replies

Topic title says it all:

Do exchange booths in JFK airport (New York City) accept Thai baht, or will I have to exchange my baht in Suvanabumi before I leave?

If no one can help with this, I'm sure someone must be able to tell me about other airports in the US (with direct BKK flights) such as LAX or others.

Thanks!

I've changed baht into dollars in the intl terminal in San Francisco. So, shouldn't be a problem in NY

Changing foreign currencies in the home country will always give you the best rate. You will lose a lot exchanging baht in jfk.

I agree completely. Even in the current situation with a onshore/offshore market with very different exchange rates, I would be very surprised if you get more changing your THB in the U.S.

Right now Thai banks are selling dollars at almost exactly 35 baht per dollar.

Can any informed readers tell us what rate banks in US airports are currently selling dollars for baht.

Because of the more than 2 baht spread (offshore vs onshore) I assumed it would be better to change in the US, even with fees. Perhaps I am wrong, though....
