Ex-Cop in 30 million baht lottery dispute closes his bank account

9pm.jpg

Thai caption: Bank account is completely emptied

The retired policeman at the center of a long running dispute about who won 30 million baht in the Thai national lottery early last year has closed his account at Krung Thai bank.

His lawyer said that the account number had been made public and the withdrawal was to guard against criminals potentially stealing the money.

Pol Lt Charoon Wimool was involved in an 18 month dispute with teacher Preecha Kraikruan over who really won.

At first the police themselves decided it was the teacher but ultimately the Kanchanaburi court decided in June of this year that "Lung Charoon" was the rightful owner of the millions.

He went with his lawyer to the Kanchanaburi court to say he was closing his account after Preecha mentioned the account name in court documents.

What is happening with the money is up to him and his relatives, he told the media.

Trust either a Thai teacher or RTP officer?  Trust their deceit!

A RTP officer stopped me at one of those persistant 'TARGET A FARANG FOR MONEY' check-points in Pattaya city and asked for my Thai license, so I produced a photo-copy, which is legal from August the 20th of this year. However, the officer would not have it and told me he knew Thai law better than I do, which is true, but not on this occassion. I stood my ground and was eventually allowed to continue, but his final remark to me was, 'go home to your own country'. This is the real true Thainess plus BS foreigners put up with not forgetting the usual deceit..

As for Thai teachers, well I've had a belly-full of  their low life methods to extort money from students plus foreign teachers alike. Linning their pockets is far more important to them.

Personally, I no longer trust either two so called professionals, which is a shame because I tar them all with the same brush, which is not fair on those that are not inclined to cheat, extort and lie, but  sadly that is how I view most Thai becasue Thai alone have made me feel that way about them.

spelling mistake

Happy for the cop, the teacher with the encouragement of the ticket vendor tried to steal the money from the cop.

if true, he would have received a resounding “f-you” from me with a subsequent hand signal indicating same!

Who told you this? The news which was here on Thaivisa a week ago?

This news was not correct. You were wrong. I hope if you see him again you say sorry for your behaviour.

It's an easy problem to solve.just get them together and ask them if they are willing to split it.the one who agrees to half is the cheat so just give him 1 baht and a wave or better a middle finger.thais can be one of the most deceitful people but they are very gullible and will fall for old 50/50 trick.

I have to be honest. You made a dam fine post. I agree with you 100% I too have experiences with both professions.  Here is a twisted place and it's not gonna change. I'll have a beer though, ha. And it usually aint no Thai beer. ????

Are you serious with this post. Pretty much any expat that has been here awhile and can't see how twisted things are simply naive.

P.S. Is dog food any good? ????

Hopefully some of the moaners on this thread will win 30m baht so they can afford to leave the country that they hate. ????

He's put it off-shore with the billions from Thai politicians before they had to declare their assets.

I don't say that cops never twist the truth. But in this case the poster was wrong and the cop was right.

Maybe the cop was not 100% sure himself, or maybe he just didn't want to waste his time with a stubborn tourist.

Whatever the reason was, there is a good chance that he will tell his buddies about farangs who come to Thailand, break laws, and think they know everything better. And then people wonder that police are tightening the rules?

Good luck with that in real life as opposed to Internet posturing. I suggest you do not call him 'Dude' either.

Tightening the rules isn't done because farangs coming to Thailand are breaking the laws, but because the authorities have inherited the ideas that westerners are no good, only they are good. It's called the MK Syndrom.

In 20 years I can count the number of competent Thais I’ve met on two hands. This includes doctors, engineers, police, dentists, and teachers at the university level.

99% of them are embarrassingly ignorant.
