I believe I can get a single entry non o visa, (me UK, have Thai child) valid for 3 months, but can I get a multiple re entry permit and if so, where would I get it?

 

I think it costs 2000baht... Would there be any other costs /admin for me to do, when I come and go at immigration? And can I come and go as often as I like during its validity?

 

This non o visa can be extended by a further 2 months to make 5 months in all. Would I need a new multiple re entry permit for that 2 month extension?

Yes if you intended to leave Thailand and return multiple times. 

Multiple re-entry permit is 3,800 baht.

You'd need one to cover the 90 day stay from the Non O entry and one for the extension period of 60 days.
