O-A Visa Extension

Featured Replies

In March 2020 I need to apply for an extension for my O-A Visa, which is currently based on retirement. In February this year I legally married a Thai lady and want to base the extension aoplication on marriage. I have no problem with any of the requirements/documentation to apply for the extension, apart from the following;

Up until the end of July I was using Bahtsmart to transfer my monthly superannuation pension payments from Australia, to my Kasikorn Bank account here, minimum of 65,000 baht each month. Recently I discovered that these transfers do not show up as an international transfer on the Kasikorn account, due to the transfers happening as a bulk transaction, via an intermediary bank in Thailand. They then apoears as a domestic transfer.  Effective August I now have a Bangkok Bank account and use Transferwise to transfer the funds, which then appear as an international transfer.

Any thoughts on how I can explain this to Buriram Immigration?

Any advice would be really aporeciated.

If you base your extension on marriage and money in the bank 400K do you then really need to show anything more intl transfer or what??'

I am not 100% sure but I think you are good you have more then 400K in the bank so go for it. otherwise oher guys have to correct what I am saying..

Thanks for the reply, but I want to use the monthly income method, as I'm trying to avoid tying up 400,000 baht for what I think is three months before and two months after the extension.  This was the reason for my initial question.

It's 2 month prior and 1 month post.

Up to you but your making rod for your back. Your now married to Thai, use money in bank method.

in 10 extensions for marriage I've never had my funds checked while waiting for approval (Krabi/Hua Hin), though I'm sure they've checked on a few desperadoes here..

It is as long as it takes to get the approval post.

You will need to show 12  transfers of at least 40k baht from abroad.

They may allow you show any proof that the first few transfers were sent from abroad.

Can you get a credit advice from your bank to prove they were sent from outside the country.
