Two Chinese arrested for armed robbery

Featured Replies

Police in Svay Rieng province’s Bavet city on Monday arrested two Chinese nationals for allegedly stealing $22,000 from a hair salon. Captain Kouy Yeang, deputy chief of Bavet city police, identified the two suspects as Chen Chiang Chin, 46, and his friend Chin Thing, 47. Both are food vendors living in a rental house in Bavet city’s Bavet commune.

The victim was identified as Chang Hai, 37, owner of a hair salon and living in Bavet commune. Cap Yeang said that at about 1.30am on Monday, the two suspects broke into the victim’s shop while he was sleeping inside. He added that the suspects stole $22,000 and fled.

“When the two suspects were breaking into his shop, the victim woke up and saw them but pretended to continue to sleep after he saw that they were carrying hammers, knives and sticks,” Cap Yeang said. “He was afraid that they would kill him if he shouted for help from the neighbours.”

Two of China’s finest citizens.  No wonder they all get free visas...

How do you get a job as a food vendor on a foreign passport? Or are they in Thailand taking menial jobs illegally? If so, wouldn't it be easier for those Chinese to get jobs legally as food vendors in China, and less likely to have to steal?

Seems like they knew where to find what they were looking for.  As they say, the devil is in the details.

Cambodia is turning into a mighty fine place for the Chinese to have a little crime spree
