Agencies from China, Nepal donate money to help flood victims

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Tewan Liptapallop, has received donations from Chinese and Nepali private agencies to help flood victims in Thailand.

 

Mr. Tewan said Sing Sian Yer Pao Daily News from China donated one million baht and the Thai Nepali Association donated 100,000 baht. He added that the government’s bank accounts for donations remain open. When the floods are over, the donations will still be used to help those in need.

 

He said the government has already paid 50,000 baht in compensation to each family of the 35 people who died as a result of the recent flooding. The government is to pay 30,000 baht to families of casualties and an additional 50,000 baht for casualties with children. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is surveying damaged homes. Funds will be allocated in accordance with the assessment report.

Common-sense would dictate most people with half a brain to reframe from extravagant spending look after the internal problems first.
