Sarawut Benjakul

Sarawut Benjakul, deputy secretary-general of the Office of the Judiciary, said on Monday (October 7) that the judiciary has decided to establish an ad hoc subcommittee to investigate the case of a Pattani judge shooting himself in the courtroom on October 4. He said investigation results are expected within 15 days.

The panel will be led by Wasana Hongcharoen, president of the Supreme Court’s Juvenile and Family Department, and also include Appeals Court chief judge Anurak Sangaarikul and Criminal Court chief judge Suwicha Sukkasemhathai.

Khanakorn Pianchana reportedly shot himself in the courtroom after reading his verdict on accusations against a gang accused of murder. Reports of his suicide attempt have been conflicting, with some saying he was protesting against interference by his superiors, while court officials initially claimed it stemmed from personal stress.

I'm guessing the 'court officials' are attempting to close ranks and deflect criticism of their system by claiming it was a personal issue.

What a ridiculous thing to say, report expected in 15 days, how does anybody know how long it would take?

What they mean to say is, in 15 days we will come out with a load of nonsense excuse, blaming the judge.

Why the dog and pony 15 days show. The report was ready before the committee was set up. Verdict due to personal stress and the court has always acted judicially without ANY outside or political interference. End of investigation.

breaking news:

the "ad hoc panel" has been revealed as the ubiquitous "ad absurdum panel"

...but nobody cares.

"You were only supposed to shoot yourself in the foot!"

They could jail him for attempted murder .    Problem solved
