Thunder showers forecast for upper Thailand, parts of Bangkok

Thunder showers are forecast for upper Thailand and 40 per cent of Bangkok, while the South will see continuous rain and isolated heavy rain on October 8-9, the Thailand Meteorological Department announced on Tuesday (October 8).

 

The department attributed the weather conditions to moderate high pressure over the upper North, the upper Northeast and the South China Sea, resulting in easterly winds across the upper parts of the country and the Gulf.

 

Thundershowers are likely over upper Thailand with isolated heavy rain in the East and Bangkok and vicinity while cooler temperatures are likely in the upper North and the upper Northeast. Continuous rain and isolated heavy rain are forecast over the South.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

Northern region: Partly cloudy with thunderstorms in 20 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 20-23 degrees and highs of 33-36 degree Celsius.

 

Northeastern region: Partly cloudy and thunder showers in 20 per cent of the area, temperatures lows 20-23 degrees and highs of 33-34 degree Celsius.

 

Central region: Partly cloudy weather with thundery showers rain over 30 per cent of the area; lows 23-24 degrees, highs 33-34 degrees Celsius.

 

Eastern region: Mostly cloudy with thunder showers over 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-24 degrees, highs 32-34 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

 

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area; lows of 22-24 degrees, high 32-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

 

Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area; lows 23-24 degrees, highs 31-33 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

 

Bangkok and surrounding area: Mostly cloudy with thunder showers in 40 per cent of the area, lows 24-25 degrees, highs 32-35 degrees Celsius.

At 1400 8th Oct there is not 1 cloud over the whole of Thailand .

There is a far greater chance of it not raining according to the above (20-40% chance of being affected), so why the warning? I don't get it.
