Thundershowers forecast for most of Thailand, heavy rain in some areas

Thundershowers are likely over the upper country over the next three days, with isolated heavy rain possible in the North, parts of the Northwest, the lower Northeast, the Central plains, the East and the South including Bangkok and its vicinity, the Thailand Meteorological Department announced on Friday (October 11).

The department attributed the weather conditions to a weak high pressure trough over the upper North, the upper Northeast and the South China Sea, resulting in the southeasterly and easterly winds across the upper country.

From October 12 to 15, another high-pressure system from China will move to cover the North, the Northeast, the upper Central and the South China Sea. Thundershowers with gusty winds will be likely for the first part of this period with subsequent decreases in temperature likely in the North and the Northeast.

The department recommended citizens to take care of their health in these changeable weather conditions. The winds will become stronger, lifting wave height to 2 metres and above during storms. Shipping should proceed with caution and avoid storms.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Partly cloudy with thunderstorms and partly heavy rains in 30 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 21-24 degrees and highs of 33-35 degrees Celsius.

Northeastern region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers and partly heavy rains in 30 per cent of the area, temperatures lows 23-25 degrees and highs of 32-34 degrees Celsius.

Central region: Partly cloudy weather with thundery showers and partly heavy rains over 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 32-34 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Mostly cloudy with thunder showers and occasional heavy rain over 60 per cent of the area; lows 24-26 degrees, highs 33-35 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers and occasional heavy rain in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 23-26 degrees, highs 31-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thunder showers and occasional heavy rains in 60 per cent of the area; lows 22-25degrees, highs 32-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Bangkok and surrounding area: Mostly cloudy with thunder showers and occasional heavy rain in 60 per cent of the area, lows 24-25 degrees, highs 32-35 degrees Celsius.

Yee Gods ...Again More rain forecast

100KM south of Hua Hin

Scorching here and not a cloud in sight for days  some rainy season this is turning out to be

Already water pressure is dropping (we are not on mains water)

Bol locks. These weather forecasts are usually just a stab in the dark attempt for TMD egg-sperts to appear to have a clue. So to hedge their bets just say something vaguely 30/40/60% maybe-ish, then pat yourself on the back if it turns out to be slightly correct. Job well done :clap2:

There is not 1 cloud over Thailand and only concern is off the coast of Japan. Time this department was given alternative duties.

What a brilliant headline! which then goes onto say that in all likelihood 70% of areas will have no rain :w00t:

Sometimes - silence is the better course of action :ermm:

My little daughter is very seriously into tennis playing and since she can only train during her free days (weekends and holidays) we have to rely on a good weather chart. VENTUSKY is the very best I have ever seen.

I'd estimate that in my area of Kalasin Province we've had, at most, 30 days of rain in total since the rainy season began in May. And now it's just about finished. On the other hand, the clear skies over the past few days has made it seem like winter with its low humidity even though we've had high temperatures. And nights have been refreshingly cool.

Being a weather forecaster is a great job. You can be wrong 100 percent of the time and not get fired. People even expect you to be wrong. What other job gives you that kind of security.

Weekly forecast for last 3 months or so for Chiangmai.

In our area of Kanchanaburi, been getting daily showers or t-storms for at least 10 days...a couple of them heavy. Enough each day (or night) not to have to "water" the garden and other vegetation. ????

West of Bangkok a week of hot dry days +35C, afternoon cloud but no rain.
