Don Mueang duty-free concession soon up for bids

Airports of Thailand (AOT) president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn says the state agency would go ahead and invite companies to bid this week for the duty-free concession at Don Mueang International Airport.

He said the AOT revenue board approved draft terms of reference for the bidding on Friday (October 11).

Bid documents will be distributed next month and applicants have another month to submit their bids.

Nitinai expects the competition to be fierce and believes the same firms that recently sought the duty-free concessions for Suvarnabhumi Airport and several provincial airports would also participate in this process.

It appears A.O.T. hierarchy are looking to top up their bank accounts with this bit of nonsense.

I never buy duty free. Get my smokes and booze locally, put it in a duty free bag.

Why do they even bother going through this charade? Everybody knows King Power envelopes are the biggest and the best.

I don't know why anyone would bother putting in a bid, it is a foregone conclusion who will get the concession.

Cut -out the whitewash bidding fiasco... we all know who will get the contract.

I think I'm willing to bet my left kidney for it to be KP. Nah, make it both. A non-story.

Sure to be a close run contest ...lol

Boy! that's a tough call - who do you think will win it -- all above board of course.
