Abolition Of Slavery

Featured Replies

It's been 200 years since the abolition of slavery. My question is, should the west compensate the displaced Africans?

Note to the Mods. I know this has little to do with Thailand, however, it would be interesting to hear from people who have travelled.

On other forum sites the answers have been, pardon the pun., black and white. The whites say no compensation and the blacks who say there should be.

:o

This so doesn't belong here :D

It's still waiting to be abolished in some countries. They just give it a different name nowadays.

I think it would be reasonable for the white man to consider compensating the people displaced by slavery after the black men (probably defined by tribe) who sold their brothers to the white man have paid their dues. (As usual fat lot of hope of that!!) :o

If you visit countries such as Saudi Arabia you will realise that slavery is far from abolished.

Would Barack Obama have to pay himself the compensation for his mother's family holding his father's family as slaves?

Didn't his father's family in Africa sell slaves? He should pay twice (white mother and slave trader great-grandfather), but collect half rate compensation (half black) discounted 37.543435% since none of his family actually lived in the country during the time of slavery but everything is whitey devils fault and they should pay him something anyway.

This topic is non Thai related so therefore :o
